Highlights of the Experience
The curved slopes of Gibraltar Rock, aka Elephant Rock are just one of the many stand out features that welcome visitors to the range, as they make their way along Porongurup Rd, but few are given the opportunity to see this granite peak up close, in all it's glory. A short ascent takes hikers slightly off the beaten track as we make our way along the narrow trail winding through the natural bush up to the prominent rock face. This trail covers approximately 2km of hiking.
Climbing to new heights
Climb to new heights as we take a short stroll ascending one of the western slopes of the range up to a communications tower above that offers the most amazing views of an incredible diverse landscape below. They say the hardest climbs provide the most outstanding views and this climb is no different, providing a new perspective of the range, including the eastern slopes of Devils Slide. This component is the most challenging, covering 2.5km return via steep terrain, some rock scrambling is included.
Field of Dreams, Picnic Rock, Hidden Caves and Hanging Rock
Immerse yourself in Porongurup History with local historians Peter and Mike Thorn taking a step back in time as they share with you the history of Peter's 'Field of Dreams', the highest cricket field in Western Australia and surely the most scenic being next to the Porongurup National Park.
Experience some of the hidden treasures in this ancient Porongurup Mountain Range that only locals know about. Your nature guide leads the way through the natural bushland, sharing with you two secret locations on the north side named by locals as Picnic Rock and Hanging Rock. If you think Castle Rock is magnificent, wait until you are completely immersed in what makes Porongurup so special. This component covers approximately 3km with some rock scrambling involved.
Bushtucker Inspired Morning Tea
Sit back and enjoy a Bushtucker inspired morning tea including a variety of Bushtucker infused slices, biscuits and bliss balls, washing it down with a cup of Warndu Bushtucker herbal tea.
