As our guides are passionate locals, they are more than happy to give additional advice on other attractions or places to visit during your stay in Adelaide.

Adelaide Hills and Mount Barker

Travel into the Adelaide Hills and enter into the town of Mount Barker dating back to the 1840s. Settled as a farming town near to the Summit of the same name, Mount Barker today is home to great residential growth as people opt for a tree change in the area. Sight some of the older historic buildings in the town and also travel past the newer developments as we continue further east and enter into the rain shadow area of the Adelaide Hills.
From the eastern escapement of the Hills, panoramic views open up of Langhorne Creek, the Lower Lakes of the Murray River and the Coorong coastline miles away.

Township of Langhorne Creek

As we continue to travel closer to Langhorne Creek, the surrounding cereal crops start to make way for vineyards, olives and almond plantations and we start to sight the Bremer River that the town has been settled upon.
The history of white settlement of Langhorne Creek began with Alfred ‘The Liar’ Langhorne, a cattle drover renowned for his dishonest dealings. Alfred brought animals overland to a property known as Langhorne Station during the 1840s and the place where he traversed the Bremer River was referred to as Langhorne’s Crossing.
From this the current name Langhorne Creek evolved, even though there is no waterway named Langhorne Creek.

Bleasdale Vineyards

Bleasdale was founded by Frank Potts in 1850 when he first sighted the fertile lands around the Bremer river at what was known as Langhorne Crossing. He purchased the first sections of the new town, cleared the land of it's gums and started to farm the land, adding Shiraz and Verdelho vines later on.
Today the winery continues to make premium wines under the Potts Family ownership who have maintained the history in what is one of Australia's oldest family owned. The heritage listed cellar and Old Gum Press have been protected to give visitors a small glimpse of the past to to tell the story of what is was like in the early days.
Enjoy a taste and take the opportunity to step back in history with an inspection of the cellar and press..

Kimbolton Wines

A short distance down the road from Bleasdale is Kimbolton Wines, owned by the Case Family. They have been growing vines for 5 generations and have a great connection to the Langhorne Creek region being descendants of Frank Potts.
In the last 3 years they have built an award winning cellar door complex which takes in the views of some of their vines in the region and creates a great atmosphere for tasting and experiencing their wines where you can relate to the individual vineyard's terroir.
Be surrounded by vines whilst tasting some of the superb wines at Kimbolton.

Lake Breeze Wines

With a history of growing vines in the region dating back to the 1880's and property interests since the 1850's, it is no surprise that Lake Breeze Wines, like many from the region, are known for creating award winning wines.
Owned by the Follett family, they have successfully combined dairy farming and cattle with grape growing since the 1930's, and in 1987 they produced the first Lake Breeze wine with the cellar door opening in 1991.
Today the latest generation of Folletts are responsible for the great success they have achieved in recent years with many awards accolades, and also the redevelopment and expansion of the ever popular cellar door and function centre.
Enjoy a regional platter, taste some of their award winning wines, all whilst taking in the views of the surrounding scenery overlooked by the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Continue exploring and tasting in the region

After lunch, enjoy more time to explore and discovery more wineries in the region. Visit at least another cellar door, if not two (time dependant).
Other possible cellar doors are Bremerton Wines, Angas Plain Wines, Vineyard Road, the Winehouse and Rusticana.
Or if you are traveling as one group and would like to take in the antiques and collectable stores of Strathalbyn, we will be happy to adjust the tour to suit the group.
